One of our first stops on this trip was Cataract Gorge - a ten minute walk out of Launceston. It has a number of walking paths ranging from easy - the one you'll see here - up to 'hiking' if you fancy stairs and the like :)

At the centre of the gorge is a large open area with an attractive looking pool. It has one of the best toddler pools I've ever seen, making me wish I was 5 again; but sadly this is Tasmania so it's also pretty damn cold most of the year!

There is also a pleasant Chair Lift ride which takes about 9 minutes each way, $10 one way or $12 return.

You can watch this 9 1/2 minute trip below.

Note: Chairlifts move slowly. If you want to make it go fast, click play, wait for it to buffer a bit, then drag the slider to make the chair lift really fly!

One nice touch was the fake wooden structures scattered around the place - the wood is actually moulded cement.

There's also a Suspension Bridge :)

Cataract Gorge is probably Launceston's biggest claim to fame, and well worth the drive there if you are in another part of Tazzie.
